NNPC Says Fuel Discount at Its Stations Is Not a Return of Subsidy
NNPC Limited says its fuel discount at NNPC retail stations is a temporary customer-relief measure, not a return to the petroleum subsidy regime. The company said the discount, introduced on October 1 for Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary, will run until October 31, 2026. It applies only at NNPC retail outlets and does not set a uniform national pump price. NNPC said the measure is intended to ease pressure on households and businesses as global crude oil prices rise amid uncertainty linked to the Middle East conflict. It added that market-based pricing for petroleum products remains in place.
