14 JAMB Candidates Kidnapped on Makurdi–Otukpo Highway, Police Launch Rescue Operation
Suspected bandits ambushed a Benue Links bus on the Makurdi–Otukpo road on Wednesday night. The vehicle carried about 18 passengers, many of whom were UTME candidates heading to sit the JAMB exam. The attack occurred around 8pm near Otukpo. Gunmen forced most occupants into the bush, leaving two people — the driver and a passenger — to escape. The state police commissioner confirmed that 14 passengers remain missing. Authorities say the bus breached company rules by picking up passengers after official hours. Police teams and DPOs are now on the ground, investigating and working to rescue the abducted victims.
