Iyabo Obasanjo Blames APC’s Closed Primaries as She Joins PDP

Former Senator Iyabo Obasanjo says she left the All Progressives Congress because its 2027 governorship selection ignored fairness and due process. Speaking at a PDP rally in Abeokuta, Obasanjo alleged that aspirants from Ogun Central and Ogun East were excluded before Senator Olamilekan Adeola was named consensus candidate. She praised President Tinubu’s respect and recognition when she joined APC but insisted genuine consultations must involve all aspirants in line with party rules. On formally receiving her into the PDP, Obasanjo pledged loyalty and announced her intention to run for the Ogun Central Senatorial seat on the new party’s platform.

It's interesting that she left APC only after the primaries are done, not when the process was unfolding.
