Lawmaker Aderemi Escapes Kidnap Plot by Fake IRT Officers in Idanre

Hon. Oyewole Aderemi said he narrowly escaped a suspected kidnapping at his home in Idanre today. He described the attack as a coordinated plot by men posing as Intelligence Response Team officers. Around 17 armed men stormed the residence. They fired shots at the doors and harassed his security team and family. When they failed to find him, they intimidated his wife. Checks at the Idanre Police Station found no record of any official deployment. A source at IRT headquarters in Abuja confirmed no operations were authorised in the area, suggesting the attackers were impersonators. Aderemi has urged security agencies to launch a full investigation. He warned that any harm to him should be linked to political rivals and stressed the need to prevent a repeat of such attacks.
