Three Arrested After Pregnant Woman’s Death at Suspected Illegal Maternity Home in Lagos
Lagos police have arrested three suspects over the death of a pregnant woman, identified only as Amoke, at a premises on Coker Line in the Fadeyi area. The location is suspected to have been operating as an illegal maternity home. Police said the case was reported to the Alakara Police Division on August 22, 2026. Preliminary findings indicate that the woman was allegedly buried in a shallow grave at the premises before her body was later exhumed. Investigators also allege that her abdomen was cut open and the unborn child removed. The suspects, Balikis Lateef, Abdulateef Yusuf Bello and Jamiu Ayinde, are in custody as detectives work to locate and recover the remains for forensic examination. The investigation will also determine how the woman died, the role of each suspect and whether other people were involved in the alleged illegal operation.
