FBI Submits Tinubu-Related 1993 Case Records to US Judge Under Seal

FBI Submits Tinubu-Related 1993 Case Records to US Judge Under Seal

The FBI has submitted records connected to President Bola Tinubu’s 1993 US narcotics and money-laundering case to Judge Beryl Howell of the US District Court in Washington, according to court filings. The documents were reportedly delivered under seal for the judge’s private review, following an August 20 court order in a Freedom of Information Act case brought by transparency campaigner Aaron Greenspan. The FBI had argued that releasing the records could affect Tinubu’s privacy interests. The submission does not mean the documents have been made public, as the judge will first review them privately. The development has renewed debate in Nigeria over transparency, accountability and the unresolved controversy surrounding Tinubu’s past dealings with US authorities.
