Troops Raid Suspected IPOB/ESN Camps in Anambra, Recover Guns and IED Materials
Troops of the Joint Task Force South East, Operation UDO KA, say they raided suspected IPOB/Eastern Security Network camps in Ogbaru Local Government Area of Anambra State on August 22, 2026. The operation involved the military’s Maritime Component, the Department of State Services and the Anambra Vigilante Group. Security personnel reportedly moved on locations in Obene and Abator villages, within the Ochuche and Umunankwo communities. The military said its troops came under fire, returned fire and pursued the fleeing suspects. One person was reported killed, while blood stains were seen along the escape route. Two pump-action guns, motorcycles and materials suspected to be for making improvised explosive devices were recovered. Troops said they have expanded searches in the area to prevent the group from regrouping.
