Tanker Blockade Leaves Commuters Stranded on Suleja–Maje Road
Motorists and commuters have faced severe gridlock on the Suleja–Maje corridor in Niger State, with some travellers reportedly stranded for days. Drivers said tankers blocked parts of the road near Maje Junction after being denied access to Suleja Township. The congestion has slowed movement between Lambata, Maje and other connecting routes. A drivers’ union member said some people returning from Lambata Market had to sleep there because they could not get through. He also reported that a tanker driver’s son was fatally crushed after the vehicle moved in the traffic. Road users linked the recurring congestion to the volume of tankers on the route and the poor condition of the Maje–Diko Road.
