Netanyahu Vows Continued Strikes on Hezbollah Despite Fragile Ceasefire
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has affirmed that Israel will persist in military operations against Hezbollah wherever necessary. This declaration comes after a massive wave of Israeli airstrikes in Lebanon that the Lebanese health ministry says killed at least 254 people and wounded more than 1,100. The campaign, dubbed Operation Eternal Darkness, saw over 100 sites hit within ten minutes. Among the targets was Ali Yusuf Harshi, a personal aide to Hezbollah’s deputy leader. Critical infrastructure, including river crossing points and weapons storage facilities, was also struck. Lebanon declared a national day of mourning in response to the heavy civilian toll. While Pakistan mediated a two-week truce between the US and Iran, Israeli and US leaders insist Lebanon is excluded. Hezbollah answered with rocket fire into northern Israel. Rights groups, including Amnesty International, have urged all sides to protect civilians amid escalating hostilities. Lebanon’s death toll has surpassed 1,500 since intensified operations began in early March.
