Former Banker Convicted for Unauthorised ₦1 Million Customer Withdrawal in Lagos
A Lagos State High Court in Ikeja has convicted former banker Chukwuebuka Nweke for unlawfully withdrawing ₦1 million from a customer’s account. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission said Nweke accessed a colleague’s assigned desktop computer without authorisation on June 21, 2025. He then withdrew the money from an account belonging to Leelee Dumbari at a new-generation bank. Justice Ismail Ijelu found him guilty after a trial in which the prosecution called five witnesses. The court ordered him to pay a ₦1 million fine within 30 days or serve six months in a correctional centre.
