Nigeria, US Sign Critical Minerals Partnership to Boost Local Processing

Nigeria and the United States have signed a framework agreement on critical minerals cooperation during the 81st United Nations General Assembly in New York. The agreement covers geological data sharing, exploration, mineral development and processing, infrastructure, and technical capacity. Solid Minerals Minister Dele Alake said Nigeria wants to build more value locally through processing, skills development, jobs, and opportunities for Nigerian businesses. US Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau said the partnership would support secure and resilient critical-mineral supply chains. He added that the United States is ready to support Nigeria’s economic growth and industrial development.
