Night Patrol Yields Arrest of Alleged ISWAP Spy and Logistics Supplier in Borno
During a night patrol on July 16, troops of Operation HADIN KAI detained a 25-year-old suspect near Monguno in northern Borno State. The man, identified as Muhammad Mustapha, allegedly confessed to monitoring military movements along the Baga–Kauwa supply route. He also admitted supplying logistics to a Boko Haram/ISWAP cell operating north of Mairari. The operation under DESERT SANITY V involved the 403 Amphibious Brigade, the Nigerian Borderless Logistics Corps, and the Civilian Joint Task Force. The suspect is now in custody for further interrogation. Military sources say this arrest is a significant breakthrough in dismantling insurgent intelligence networks in the Lake Chad region. Troops remain vigilant despite an otherwise calm security environment.
