Fresh Bandit Raid in Sokoto: Dozens of Returnee IDPs Abducted
On Wednesday, July 15 around 11 a.m., suspected bandits attacked Gasalodi and Tungar Barke villages in Tambuwal LGA of Sokoto State. They abducted scores of internally displaced persons who had just returned home after seeking refuge in nearby Jabo. The assailants also rustled an unspecified number of livestock before fleeing with their captives. A resident in Jabo explained that the victims had spent several weeks in displacement and were warned by the attackers not to come back. When approached for comment, the Sokoto State Police Command’s spokesperson, DSP Ahmad Rufai, said he was yet to receive a full briefing but promised to share further details once available.
