Oyo Family Killing Sparks Alarm Over Alleged Anti-Igbo Violence and Online Incitement
Screenshots circulating online have raised concern over alleged calls for violence against Igbo residents and businesses in parts of Yorubaland. The posts, attributed to self-described Yoruba nationalist accounts, contain threats and hostile remarks targeting Igbos. The concern follows reports that Ifeanyi Chukwu, his wife and their four children were killed in Oloba Village, Lagelu, Ibadan, on 22 September 2026. Oyo State Police reportedly arrested three suspects in connection with the case. Police were reported to have said the victims were tied up and thrown into a river. The wife’s remains have reportedly been recovered, while the other victims remain missing. The allegations of ethnic incitement should be investigated, and those responsible for violence or threats should face the law.
