ICC Tribunal Dismisses $680m Sunrise Power Claim Against Nigeria, Tinubu Says

President Bola Tinubu says an ICC arbitration tribunal in Paris has rejected Sunrise Power and Transmission Company’s $680 million claim against Nigeria. The dispute is linked to the long-delayed Mambilla Hydroelectric Power Project in Taraba State. Sunrise had also pursued a broader claim of more than $2.7 billion over the project’s development. Tinubu said the ruling removes a major legal obstacle to the proposed 3,960-megawatt power project. He said Nigeria remains open to genuine investors but will contest claims it considers exploitative.
