Nigerian Consulate Reports Deaths of Three Nigerians in South Africa
The Nigerian Consulate General in Johannesburg says three Nigerians died in separate incidents in South Africa between September 18 and 21, amid renewed concerns over the safety of foreign nationals. One victim reportedly died while fleeing alleged police harassment in Bloemfontein. Another, a security guard, was allegedly shot by a customer during an altercation at a nightclub in Pretoria. The third reportedly died after an alleged encounter with a crime-fighting team in Ekurhuleni. The consulate described the reports as deeply troubling and called on South African authorities to investigate the deaths. It also urged Nigerians in the country to remain security conscious and avoid violence.
