Impostor Posing as NIPC Director-General Arrested, Presidency Uncovers Forgery Scheme
The Presidency has debunked claims by Adeniyi Adeyemi Matthew that he was appointed to head a federal agency, naming him an impostor who forged documents and impersonated officials. Investigations by the DSS and police uncovered fake appointment letters, official seals and forged signatures. Adeyemi allegedly operated a fictitious council, met with foreign diplomats without approval and opened dozens of bank accounts in the names of non-existent agencies. He was arrested in Abuja on October 27. Authorities seized incriminating documents and 34 bank accounts. An eight-count charge of forgery, impersonation and obtaining by false pretense has been filed, with a hearing set for July 27 at the Federal High Court.
