Benue Woman Arrested Over Death of Husband’s Mistress’s Two-Month-Old Baby

A 25-year-old woman, Erdoo Ugede, was arrested in Ankyoov, Gwer East LGA, Benue State after allegedly killing a two-month-old infant. She had invited her husband’s alleged mistress and the baby to live in her matrimonial home, despite knowing the child was fathered by her husband. Neighbours say the suspect has no children of her own and the arrangement did not raise suspicion at first. On the day of the incident, the baby’s mother went to a nearby market, leaving her son in Ugede’s care. Neighbours heard the infant’s cries and found him fatally injured. They stopped the suspect from fleeing and alerted the authorities. Officers from the Aliade Police Division took the suspect into custody. The Benue State Police Command has yet to issue an official statement as investigations continue.
