Delta Police Recover Suspected Stolen Church Equipment, Arrest Robbery Suspect
Delta State Police say they arrested a 45-year-old suspect after intercepting two Toyota Sienna vans carrying musical equipment on the Warri-Sapele Road on September 19. Officers said they recovered three locally made guns and a live cartridge from the vehicles. The suspect allegedly led investigators to a scrapyard in Warri believed to be used by a robbery gang. Police said the raid led to the recovery of 22 air conditioners, 13 washing machines, 29 motorcycle and tricycle engines, three motorcycles, television sets, a generator, a laptop and more musical equipment. Some of the equipment is suspected to have been stolen from a church. Investigators said the gang may be linked to armed robberies in the Kwale and Warri areas. Other suspects, including an alleged gang leader, are still being sought.
