INEC Denies Fake Governorship Candidates List Circulating in Six States
The Independent National Electoral Commission has disowned a document circulating online as an official list of governorship candidates for Zamfara, Gombe, Delta, Plateau, Yobe and Kano. INEC said the publication did not come from the commission and urged Nigerians not to share it. The electoral body advised voters, political parties and the public to verify election information through its official announcements before treating it as genuine. The warning comes amid preparations for the 2027 general elections, when false candidate lists and unverified notices could mislead voters and fuel confusion among party supporters.
