Tems’ “What You Need” Becomes Longest-Charting Solo African Song on Billboard Hot 100

Nigerian singer Tems has set a new milestone on the Billboard Hot 100. Her single, “What You Need,” has spent 30 consecutive weeks on the US chart and is currently at No. 33. The achievement makes it the longest-charting solo song by an African artiste on the chart. It moves ahead of Tyla’s “Water” and CKay’s “Love Nwantiti,” which each spent 29 weeks there. “What You Need” previously peaked at No. 29 and has also topped Billboard’s Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay and Adult R&B Airplay charts.
