Otti Rules Out Godfather Role and Senate Bid After Second Term
Abia State Governor Alex Otti says he will not impose a successor or become a political godfather after completing a second term in office. Speaking in Umuahia while receiving former SDP governorship candidate Ngozi Johnson-Chukwunenye and her supporters into the Labour Party, Otti said Abia voters would have the final say on who succeeds him. He added that stakeholders should support the most suitable candidate, not someone chosen to serve personal interests. Otti also restated that he has no plans to contest for a Senate seat or any other elective office after leaving the governorship. He said his administration is investing in younger leaders through initiatives such as the Abia Leadership Academy. Johnson-Chukwunenye said improvements in salary payments, pensioners' welfare and road projects in Aba and Umuahia influenced her decision to join the Labour Party. Otti said infrastructure work would be extended to more communities across the state.
