Protest in Umuahia as Abia City Boy Movement Suspends Organising Secretary
Members of the Abia chapter of the City Boy Movement protested at the group’s Umuahia headquarters after the six-month suspension of its State Organising Secretary, Dr. Charles Ukeagu. Ukeagu said the protesters were peacefully demanding fairness and transparency. He described his suspension as counterproductive and called for dialogue, reconciliation and stronger internal processes within the movement. The movement’s Deputy State Director, Prince Chukwuemeka Osoagbaka, said the suspension followed a disciplinary committee’s investigation into alleged insubordination. He maintained that Ukeagu was not expelled and could challenge the decision through the organisation’s internal channels. Both sides reaffirmed support for President Bola Tinubu, while protesters urged the leadership to reverse the suspension and prevent the dispute from weakening the group ahead of the 2027 elections.
