Ibadan Council Condemns Molete Clash, Urges Peaceful 2027 Campaigns
The Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes has urged Oyo politicians and their supporters to avoid violence as preparations for the 2027 general elections gather pace. The call follows an attack on supporters of Accord Party governorship candidate Oriyomi Hamzat during a procession in Molete, Ibadan South-West Local Government Area. Police confirmed that the group was ambushed during what was described as a peaceful procession. The council said campaigns should focus on policies and development plans, not intimidation or confrontation. It also asked political leaders to restrain their supporters and urged security agencies to prosecute anyone responsible for political violence.
