FG Says No ₦1.3bn Was Released for Controversial PEAC/PFIPC

The Budget Office of the Federation has defended the ₦1.3 billion appropriation linked to the Presidential Economic Advisory Council/Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PEAC/PFIPC), saying no public money was ever released or spent. Director-General Tanimu Yakubu said the National Assembly approved the funds, but the legal and administrative conditions needed before payment were never completed. He said the Budget Office did not grant financial clearance, and no lawful recruitment, payroll enrolment, or salary payment took place. Yakubu added that the overhead and capital allocations also never progressed to payment. He said the Federal Ministry of Finance and the Office of the Accountant-General were instructed to stop any process that could lead to disbursement, and insisted that Nigeria’s expenditure controls prevented any loss of public funds.
