Kano Anti-Corruption Commission Chairman Reportedly Resigns as Acting Replacement Is Named

Saidu Yahaya, chairman of the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission, has reportedly resigned amid concerns raised by the state government about the commission’s performance. Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has named the commission’s former secretary, Barrister Hafsat Adau Kutama, as acting chairperson. She is expected to assume office on September 16. Yahaya was appointed in August 2025 for a five-year term. Before the reported resignation, the governor had urged the commission to step up anti-corruption efforts and warned officials unwilling to carry out their duties to step aside. The resignation had not been independently confirmed by Yahaya when the report was filed.
