Zamfara Governor Tells Wike to Join APC Fully or Step Away From Coalition Politics

Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal has asked FCT Minister Nyesom Wike to clearly define his political allegiance ahead of the 2027 elections. Lawal argued that Wike cannot support President Bola Tinubu’s re-election while allowing members of the Rainbow Coalition to remain in other parties and contest against APC candidates in governorship and legislative races. Speaking during an interview on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York, Lawal said APC governors want Wike to either support the ruling party at every level or leave the arrangement. He said he would raise the matter with President Tinubu. Wike has maintained that backing Tinubu for president does not require coalition members to abandon their parties or forgo the right to field candidates in other elections.
