ADC Challenges Tinubu to Explain Electricity Record, Citing 2023 Promise
African Democratic Congress (ADC) spokesperson Bolaji Abdullahi has called on President Bola Tinubu to account for his 2023 campaign promises on electricity. Speaking on a television programme, Abdullahi acknowledged he was not deeply familiar with the technical issues involved in fixing the power sector, but said Nigerians deserved measurable improvements in supply and affordability. He alleged that unreliable electricity and high bills were putting pressure on households and businesses. Abdullahi recalled Tinubu’s pledge to improve power supply and end estimated billing, and said voters could judge the administration’s record in 2027. Abdullahi urged state governments to use the Electricity Act 2023 to develop power systems in their jurisdictions. He also called for more investment in electricity infrastructure, arguing that affordable energy should be central to the ADC’s economic agenda.
