Makinde Appoints Wolekanle as Oyo State Chief of Staff After Ogunwuyi’s Resignation
Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has appointed Bashorun Akinwale Akinwole, popularly known as Wolekanle, as his new Chief of Staff. The appointment takes immediate effect following the resignation of Segun Ogunwuyi. The Secretary to the State Government announced the appointment on October 12, 2026. Akinwole previously chaired the Oyo State Local Government Service Commission and is a grassroots politician from Ogbomoso. Makinde also named Mrs Aderonke Adedayo as Director-General of the state’s Due Process Office. She will retain her role as Special Adviser on General Intervention and Donor Agencies. Ogunwuyi, a former state and federal lawmaker, did not publicly state a reason for his resignation. The change comes amid other recent departures from the Makinde administration, though no official link has been established.
