INEC, Parties Lead Expressions of Confidence in Electoral Security Ahead of 2027
INEC, political parties and candidates recorded the highest levels of expressed confidence in security agencies ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 general elections, according to a new CEREDEMS-Africa tracking report. The report analysed 36 observations collected from August 19, 2026, under an electoral integrity project. INEC accounted for 33.33% of the expressions recorded, followed by political parties at 25% and candidates at 16.66%. Other actors made up 11.11% of the observations, while government institutions accounted for 5.55%. Civil society groups, NGOs and campaign organisations recorded 2.77% each. The report called for stronger dialogue among stakeholders to build trust in impartial electoral security before, during and after the 2027 polls.
