Reps Clear PINL of Allegations, Recommend Extension of Pipeline Surveillance Contract
The House of Representatives Committee on Host Communities has cleared Pipeline Infrastructure Nigeria Limited and its managing director of allegations linked to the company’s pipeline surveillance contract. The committee also passed a vote of confidence in President Bola Tinubu, NNPC Limited and security agencies involved in protecting oil infrastructure. A subcommittee said the petitioners did not appear after three invitations and provided no documents to support claims of contract mismanagement, improper spending and poor welfare for surveillance workers. PINL submitted a written response and geotagged photographs, after which the panel recommended dismissing the petition. The report credited the contractor with helping to raise crude deliveries through the Trans Niger Pipeline to 98 percent in September 2026. It also cited the removal of illegal connections and refinery sites, as well as community programmes. Lawmakers recommended extending the contract, subject to consideration by the full House.
