Ending Terror in Nigeria: Target the Financiers, Not Just Fighters
For years, politicians vowed to crush terror sponsors. But we still see no financiers in court. This failure shows our policy is unfocused. Terror has three faces: the fear of families in Borno, the violent methods of armed groups, and the hidden financiers who fund bullets and fuel. We fight fighters but ignore those who bankroll them. Sympathy visits and condolence cheques make headlines, but they do nothing to stop attacks. Real strategy needs justice, intelligence sharing, and community empowerment. We must name and freeze terror financiers. Fast-track trials in special courts. Improve data-driven intelligence. Inform Nigerians with facts. Empower local communities. Only this can end terror in Nigeria.
