Malawian Teacher Arrested Over Alleged Sexual Assault of 16-Year-Old Pupil
Police in Machinga, Malawi, have arrested a teacher over allegations that he sexually assaulted a 16-year-old Standard 8 pupil on several occasions between August and September 2026. Police said the girl was alone at home while her parents travelled and later disclosed the alleged abuse after they returned. She was taken to a health centre for examination, where police said she was found to be about two weeks pregnant. The suspect has been charged under Malawi's Penal Code and is expected to appear in court after investigations are completed.
