CJN Urges Election Tribunal Judges to Resist Political Influence Ahead of 2027
Chief Justice of Nigeria Kudirat Kekere-Ekun has urged judges who may serve on the 2027 election petition tribunals to remain impartial, independent and committed to justice. She gave the charge at the opening of the National Industrial Court’s 2026/2027 legal year in Abuja. She said the judiciary will play an important role as Nigeria approaches the next general election. The CJN noted that eligible National Industrial Court judges may be appointed to election petition tribunals under the Constitution and other laws governing the 2027 elections.
