Three Edo Indigenes Trafficked to Burkina Faso Rescued and Repatriated
The Edo State Migration Agency has brought home three indigenes who were deceived into crossing into Burkina Faso and forced into prostitution. The rescue followed an alert from Nigeria’s ambassador in Ouagadougou and came on the orders of Governor Monday Okpebholo. Among the victims is a young woman who lost her sight after suffering extreme abuse. She and two others have been taken to hospital for urgent care. The agency has also launched rehabilitation support and is appealing to anyone with information on the visually impaired woman’s family in Uselu to come forward. Officials reveal one suspect linked to the trafficking network has been arrested, and investigations are ongoing. The rescued individuals—Precious, Peace, and Evans—are now receiving medical and psychological support as the state prepares for their full reintegration.
