UAE on Alert as Iran Launches First Missile and Drone Barrage Since Ceasefire
Iran has fired dozens of missiles and drones toward the United Arab Emirates, triggering air defences to intercept multiple ballistic and cruise missiles. UAE authorities reported explosions in several areas and urged residents to stay in safe locations until further notice. A cargo vessel north of Dubai and another near Mina Saqr were reported under attack, though all crew members are safe. Fires also broke out at the Fujairah Oil Industry Zone, injuring three foreign workers. Oman authorities say a building in Bukha was struck, leaving two people wounded. The UAE government blamed Iran for the escalation, while Iranian officials accused the US of stirring conflict in the Gulf. A senior commander warned that any ship transiting the Strait of Hormuz without Iran’s approval would be targeted. The incident comes hours after a new US operation began escorting vessels through the strategic waterway.
