Fresh Gwer West Raid Leaves Five Dead in Benue Community
Suspected armed herders stormed Tse Ameen village in Mbapa Council Ward, Gwer West LGA on the night of Saturday, April 18. Locals say the attackers shot indiscriminately, leaving the sleepy community in shock. A resident, who asked to remain anonymous, told reporters on Monday that five bodies — three men and two women — were recovered early Sunday morning. He added that several people are still missing and families are searching for loved ones. DSP Udeme Edet, the state police spokesperson, confirmed the attack and said four bodies were retrieved so far. Authorities have launched an investigation and stepped up patrols to prevent further violence.
