Enugu Police Rescue Three Abducted Victims, Recover Firearms After Chase

Enugu State Police Command operatives have rescued three people who were allegedly abducted during a carjacking in the Independence Layout area of Enugu. Police said the incident was reported around 1:30 a.m. on August 18, 2026, while officers were on a crime-prevention patrol along Port Harcourt Expressway. The operatives reportedly pursued the suspects to Hillview Road, where the victims were rescued unharmed. The suspects allegedly fled after abandoning the victims’ Lexus RX350, a locally fabricated pistol with five rounds of 9mm ammunition, a cut-to-size firearm, a live cartridge, gloves, a ski mask and a mobile phone. Police said a manhunt and further investigation are underway.
