Kyiv Hit by Missiles and Drones Hours After Russia Signals Fresh Peace Talks
Russia launched 21 ballistic missiles and 210 drones at Ukraine overnight, with Kyiv as the main target, hours after President Vladimir Putin signalled readiness to resume talks involving Ukraine and the United States. Ukrainian officials said the strikes killed at least two people and injured dozens across the country. Kyiv was hit by ballistic missiles, while a separate attack on a market in Lozova, Kharkiv region, also caused deaths and injuries. The proposed talks followed a meeting between Putin and US envoy Steve Witkoff. President Volodymyr Zelensky said the attacks cast doubt on Moscow's commitment to negotiations and renewed his call for more air-defence systems. Russia continues to demand major concessions from Ukraine, including control of the Donbas region and an end to Kyiv's NATO ambitions.
