Oyo Police Arrest Four Suspects Over Alleged Truck Hijacking Syndicate
Oyo State Police Command says it has arrested four suspected members of a syndicate accused of hijacking, diverting and selling stolen trucks across Oyo and Kwara states. Police said operatives intercepted a white SINO HOWO truck during a stop-and-search operation on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway after receiving intelligence that the group was planning another operation. The truck’s bucket had allegedly been removed and it was reportedly being moved towards the Ogbomoso-Ilorin axis for sale. Investigators allege that one suspect, a motorboy attached to the truck’s driver, coordinated the hijacking from his employer. Another suspect was allegedly responsible for removing trackers and other electronic devices from stolen vehicles. The police said efforts were continuing to recover the missing truck bucket and arrest other suspected members of the syndicate.
