Wike Says Dan Orbih Rejected Offers to Abandon His 2015 Governorship Bid
FCT Minister Nyesom Wike says the late PDP leader, Chief Dan Orbih, rejected inducements to withdraw his support for Wike’s 2015 governorship ambition in Rivers State. Speaking at a tribute night for Orbih in Abuja, Wike said Orbih stood by him through the political battles of 2013 and 2014. He credited Orbih with providing campaign support, including security vehicles and mobilisation across the South-South. Wike said Orbih never asked him for contracts or personal favours during his eight years as Rivers governor. He called for a state burial in Edo State to recognise Orbih’s political contributions. Other speakers, including Magnus Abe and Adams Oshiomhole, described Orbih as a bridge builder whose political work and counsel influenced leaders across party lines.
