Ondo Chemist Operator Arrested Over Alleged Blood Tests on New Secondary School Students
The Ondo State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has arrested a chemist shop operator over the alleged collection of blood samples from new students of CAC Adu Memorial Secondary School in Oke-Aro, Akure. Officials said the samples were allegedly collected at a kiosk near the school and sent to Zion-Gate Medical Diagnosis Service. The command said it recovered laboratory result slips, but could not locate the laboratory at the address listed. The school principal has been questioned and gave a written statement. She reportedly denied that the school authorised the tests, noting that the state Ministry of Education had banned blood tests as an admission requirement. Investigators say another suspect allegedly linked to the laboratory aspect of the operation is at large. The arrested operator is expected to assist efforts to identify everyone involved.
