Why Do Nigerian Governments Rate Themselves Highly While the Country Keeps Declining?
I keep wondering why successive administrations rate themselves highly in governance while many Nigerians feel the country keeps regressing. A temporary rise in an index is often celebrated as lasting progress, even when the wider system continues to struggle. The pattern appears to repeat itself from one administration to the next. Many leaders enter office modestly but leave far more prosperous, while public institutions and ordinary citizens bear the cost. As we mark Independence Day, I think this contradiction deserves honest reflection.
