Mapping Nigeria’s Insurgency Hotspots: Jan 2025–Mar 2026
Between January 2025 and March 2026, Nigeria recorded 1,143 insurgency events across 17 states. Borno State alone accounted for 779 incidents—two out of every three attacks nationwide. The Northeast and Northwest bore the brunt of violence. Sokoto (83), Yobe (79), Adamawa (50) and Kebbi (48) followed Borno in incident counts. Half of Nigeria’s states, including the FCT, saw at least one event during this period. (Data source: ACLED via Statisense, 2026)
