Former El-Rufai Ally Muhammad Bashir Sa’idu Leads ADC Defectors to APC in Kaduna
Muhammad Bashir Sa’idu, a former Kaduna State finance commissioner and former chief of staff to ex-Governor Nasir El-Rufai, has left the African Democratic Congress for the All Progressives Congress. Speaking in Zaria, Sa’idu alleged that the ADC in Kaduna had been taken over by a family. He said his Kaduna De-Initiatives group helped build the party’s structure but chose to leave after disagreements over its control. Sa’idu claimed that more than 200,000 ADC members moved with his group to the APC. Governor Uba Sani welcomed the defectors and said they would receive equal treatment in the party. The governor also raised the APC’s Kaduna target for the 2027 elections from two million to three million votes and urged residents to support President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid.
