Electricity distribution companies installed 350,270 meters across Nigeria in the second quarter of 2026, according to the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission. The figure was 17.97% lower than the 426,985 meters installed in the first quarter. The largest share, 205,486 meters, was deployed through the Distribution Sector Recovery Programme. Another 123,833 were installed under the Meter Asset Provider scheme. As of the end of June, 7.74 million of Nigeria’s 12.59 million active electricity customers had been metered, putting the national metering rate at 61.51%. NERC said it continues to set monthly energy caps to protect unmetered customers from excessive estimated bills.
