ADC Questions Mbah’s Appointment of Its House of Reps Candidate as Aide

The African Democratic Congress in Enugu State has criticised Governor Peter Mbah’s appointment of Chinedu Onyeagba, the party’s House of Representatives candidate for Aninri/Awgu/Oji River, as an aide. Onyeagba was among 101 aides recently appointed by the governor and reportedly rejected the position. The appointments include seven Special Advisers, six Senior Special Assistants and 88 Special Assistants. The ADC said the latest list came weeks after another batch of 23 aides was appointed, bringing the total to 124 appointments in less than one month. The party’s state caretaker secretary, Adolphus Ude, alleged that the appointments were intended to strengthen the governor’s political structure ahead of the 2027 election. He also raised concerns about the cost of the appointments and claimed they could add pressure to Enugu State’s finances.
