NSCDC Arrests Two in Kwara Over Alleged Trafficking and Unlicensed Medical Practice
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in Kwara says it has arrested two suspects in separate cases involving alleged human trafficking and unlicensed medical practice. One suspect, 22-year-old Victor Barry, is accused of luring a 17-year-old girl from Amoyo with a promised job in Senegal before taking her to Lagos. The NSCDC said she was later taken to Mali by an unidentified person. Authorities say efforts are underway to establish the full circumstances and ensure her safe return. In a separate operation, operatives arrested 56-year-old Maruf Bello for allegedly running an unauthorised medical facility and carrying out procedures without recognised medical qualifications. The NSCDC said medical instruments were recovered and that both cases will be taken to court after investigations are completed. The command urged parents and guardians to be cautious about overseas job offers made to young people and to report suspected trafficking or illegal medical activity promptly.
