Ortom Accuses Alia of Role in Peter Obi’s Yelwata Visit Blockade
Former Benue Governor Samuel Ortom has accused Governor Hyacinth Alia of having prior knowledge of the reported blockade of Peter Obi’s convoy during a visit to Yelwata in Guma LGA. Speaking on a television programme, Ortom challenged Alia to deny the allegation under oath. He described the incident as an attack on democratic freedoms, saying Obi was visiting to sympathise with communities affected by killings. Ortom said his objection was not an endorsement of Obi’s politics but a defence of every Nigerian’s right to move freely and participate in political activities. The Benue State Government has denied involvement and asked for evidence linking its officials to the incident. NDC National Leader Seriake Dickson has also called for an investigation and prosecution of anyone found responsible.
