Plateau Pupils Learn About Girls’ Rights and the Dangers of Child Marriage
Christian Women for Excellence and Empowerment held an interactive session for Primary 3 to 6 pupils at LEA Zot Shen in Jos South, Plateau State, to mark the 2026 International Day of the Girl Child. The session focused on girls’ rights, staying in school and the risks child marriage poses to education, health, safety and future opportunities. Pupils were encouraged to speak up and seek help from trusted adults when they need support. The organisation also called on parents, boys, caregivers, faith leaders and communities to challenge harmful norms and protect girls. The programme was delivered through the Renewed Women’s Voice and Leadership Nigeria Project with support from development partners.
